    Polycount Interview

Today at Polycount, Robert "Orpheus" Headley has a sit down with Chris "Wrath" Bruce, 2015 artist and ex Q2 modeler. Read all the info Chris has for modelers and future game designers. Here's a little preview:

Any advice for any people out there doing mods and models and skins For games?

There are two bits of advice I have for mod people. One, respect copyrights and intellectual property, you're far better off working on your own ideas and there's no limit to how far you can take them. Two, keep things simple. If you aim for creating an uber-mod with 7 dozen classes, 50 unique player models, and 4 dozen new weapons, you're almost guaranteed to not finish.

    Plan File Update

The plan file of Graeme Devine of id Software has been updated today with information on the Macintosh client included in the upcoming Point Release. The plan file update says:

    Hey.

We will be releasing the Macintosh Quake 3 client hand in hand with the Win32 / Linux clients. We'll also require Mac OS X 10.1 or later for this release.

DOOM is up and running under 10.2, which as an OS is really quite cool (speed is much better than 10.1, although resizing a browser window is still painful).

    Oswald Speaks

Today at Urban Terror, Oswald has a few things to say about the upcoming Q3 Pont Release and what it will mean for the next version of Urban Terror. He states:

Currently, there are many unsure about what these means to the impending release of Beta 2.6. As we stated in previous news, we had planned on releasing Beta 2.6 before heading to Mesquite, Texas and QuakeCon 2002. Currently Beta 2.6 is being tested daily by the development team and those gamers who constitute the Quality Assurance Team. While it is not complete, it is close, but with this announcement, its possible this could delay are pre-QuakeCon release. We are still discussing our options. One thing you can be sure of, we will not release 2.6 while at QuakeCon, as we do not have the resources in place, with a majority of the team attending the event.

You can read the rest of Oswald's statement at Urban Terror.
